Privacy Policy

We keep reading tests private by design. This page explains what stays on your device, what we measure with Google Analytics, and how to reach us.

Our approach

How Fast Do I Read? is built so you can measure reading speed and comprehension without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, and we do not store your test scores on our servers.

Information that stays on your device

When you take a speed or comprehension test, timing, answers, and scores are processed in your browser. Those results are shown to you on the page and are not uploaded to a database we control. Closing the tab or navigating away clears that session state in the usual way for a web app.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site at a high level — for example, page views, approximate traffic volume, and whether visitors complete a reading test. This helps us improve the experience and keep the free tools working well.

Google Analytics may collect information such as:

  • Pages visited and approximate time spent on them
  • General device and browser information
  • Approximate geographic region (not your precise address)
  • Events we define, such as completing a speed or comprehension test

Google may set cookies or use similar technologies to distinguish visits. We do not use Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not send your reading scores or quiz answers as Analytics event data beyond a simple indication that a test was completed.

Google's handling of Analytics data is governed by Google's own policies. You can learn more in the Google Privacy Policy and manage ads or analytics preferences through Google's tools and your browser settings (including blocking or deleting cookies).

Cookies and similar technologies

Aside from technologies used by Google Analytics (and whatever your browser stores for normal site operation), we do not use advertising trackers or sell your data to third parties. Essential browser storage may be used only as needed to run the tests in your session.

Children

The site is a general educational tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

This policy may link to third-party sites (for example, Google's privacy documentation). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices or legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
